Regulatory

Several categories of products are subject to Health regulations, requiring evaluation and consent of a Regulatory Agency, which in Brazil is ANVISA (National Health Surveillance Agency). The company that wants to import or manufacture, distribute, store, process and sell such products needs to obtain a license to operate. ANVISA regulates Medicines, Cannabis Products, Cosmetics, Medical Devices, Food Supplements, Blood Derivatives, Cells and Tissues, among others.

How are Cannabis products allowed in Brazil?

Cannabis-derived products are authorized for medicinal use only in Brazil.

The consumption of the plant (or parts of it) remains prohibited, and its growth, possession and trade are still covered by the Drug Law (Law nº 11.343/2006), unless authorized by court order.
