The LGPD (Law 13,709/2018) exists to guarantee a set of basic rights related to personal data, given the braod expansion of data use and the digital transformation of most consumer relationships.
It determines how, when, and why companies, civil society organizations and public authorities may process people’s data, whether personal information or reactions that can be monitored in a digital environment.
Waning: not only personal data in digital media are the object of this law. Personal Data on physical media (e.g. paper files) also count. It does not matter the media in which it is available, but the data itself.
Being compliant with the LGPD goes beyond the obvious obligation to comply with the law.
Maintaining data governance helps to avoid security incidents, and, consequently, legal and regulatory sanctions, in addition to demonstrating commitment to the privacy of people who provide their personal information to your business.
Businesses and institutions that are advanced in their programs to build a data protection culture, with continuous improvement of structures to ensure compliance with the Law, have observed unequivocal improvement of their internal processes, as well as a positive perception by the market, both by customers and partners.
